Gingerbread Latte Cupcakes with Recipe Link

Ta ta Thanksgiving, HELLO CHRISTMAS! Now that Thanksgiving and Black Friday have come and gone I think now we can officially start gearing up for Christmas!

In honor of this season's most anticipated holiday I present to you a special Christmas themed treat...Gingerbread Latte Cupcakes with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting!

These ridiculously cute and delicious looking treats are brought to you by Bakers Royale! The recipe actually came about because of a disappointing Starbucks drink order, goes to show that the best inspiration really can come from anywhere!

I was a little taken aback by the idea of mixed lemon cream cheese with something as spicy as gingerbread but after reading why this was used, I have to say I'm more than curious to try out the recipe for myself. If you want to try this out as well, go ahead and check out the recipe here!

Kosher coffee cake cupcakes and recipe link

Blogger Tori Avey at The Shiksa Blog has baked up these coffee cake cupcakes, and has the recipe. As a huge fan of coffee cake, especialy the swirl of deliciousness, I think these look amazing. She writes:

I love streusel toppings and fillings, so I use a pecan one here. If you’re not into pecans, you could substitute walnuts. Sour cream adds terrific moisture to coffee cake, and I’ve found that lowfat Greek yogurt makes an almost perfect low calorie substitute. You can use either in this recipe. Oh, and I like adding some almond extract, a flavor trick I learned from a German coffee cake recipe. You can substitute vanilla if you prefer.

Other than that, I think these Coffee Cake Cupcakes are pretty self explanatory. They are awesome. Soft, moist, with a crunchy streusel topping and a beautiful glaze. You’ll love them, promise.

Cupcake violence captured in photographs

I don't really know what to call these photos other than cupcake violence:

But then in their whole form they are gorgeous. First are "Coffee Cupcakes topped with an indulgent Irish cream frosting. Decorated with a white & dark chocolate curl & a dusting of cocoa. Served with a pipette of Irish cream Liqueur."

This next one is: "A moist banana muffin sprinkled with chopped almonds & brown sugar. Topped with peanut butter frosting & embellished with crispy streaky bacon. Served with a pipette of maple syrup - perfect for drizzling!"

They're all by Arthur & Aleksandra, who you can reach at frostme at arthurandaleksandra.com and can also be found @oohhhfrostme on Twitter and on Facebook. They're doing a pop-up bakery October 7-9 as part of Birmingham, UK's Grand Designs Live.

5 coffee cupcakes and a recipe link to wish you a Happy National Coffee Day!

Happy National Coffee Day! I've been drinking coffee for about a year and can safely say that I'm now addicted to the taste and feel and, yes, caffeine. It's gotten to the point that until I've had my first cup in the morning I'm not really all there (sometimes, I'll admit, it's more like until I've had my second cup).

What about you? Do you like coffee cupcakes or would you prefer to enjoy a cup of coffee alongside a cupcake? Long before I started drinking coffee, I enjoyed the flavor of coffee ice cream, and to me that is what a coffee frosting should try to approximate, a sweet but strong flavor. But there are all sorts of ways to incorporate coffee into a cupcake, from the cake to the frosting to adding beans on top and much more.

In the spirit of coffee-loving as well as appreciating the spirit of food holidays, here are 5 coffee cupcakes as a way to celebrate.

Coffee and donut cupcake (the frosting is a very strong, delicious coffee flavor) I recently tried by Retro Bakery in Las Vegas, Nevada - and yes, I know my photograph perhaps doesn't do it justice, but trust me, it was good, and if you're ever at Retro I would definitely try this one. The coffee frosting and glaze on the cake balance each other out very well.
