If you find yourself in Delaware County with a craving for something sweet, Jennifer and Robert Morris of Cupcakeology have you covered. The husband and wife business and baking team celebrated the grand opening of their first retail location in Collingdale, PA, on Saturday, with music, free cupcakes, a variety of flavors, and lots of smiles to mark the occasion. Robert and Jennifer began with the idea of starting a cupcake truck, but discovered they needed to find a kitchen to bake out of in the process. Their Collingdale location not only serves as their headquarters for their future cupcake truck, but allows them to have a store front for the community. Opening up shop has been a slow process, but it gave Morris the time she needed to really research and understand the business. Her biggest advice to anyone looking to get into the cupcake game is “Research, research, research.”

Morris was a life-long baker, who started her cupcake career at the age of 9, selling her goods in the neighborhood. School, sports, a career in real estate, and starting a family put her baking business on hold, but Cupcakeology brings her passion for baking full-circle. Morris still uses some of the same recipes from her childhood, and boasts over 25 flavors and counting. What sets Cupcakeology apart, aside from being the only cupcakery in the area, is the moistness of the cupcakes. Morris uses buttermilk in all her recipes, an old family secret to keep flavor and moisture. I had the French Toast cupcake, and I can vouch that the buttermilk makes a difference.
Individual cupcakes start at $2 each. Special orders are available. For more information, you can visit Cupcakeology on facebook or visit their store at:
